Objective

After 15 years of programming professionally, Chip's goal is to enjoy his craft and the tools required to do a top-notch job. That means working with Ruby on Rails in a telecommuting environment, while continuing to contribute to various open source projects such as Watir on Rails, ActiveMerchant (Braintree enhancements), his Ruby gem for managing Apache virtual hosts on OSX, a2osx , and his Rails plugins, basic_form_builder and shopping_cart . He also enjoys learning as much as possible about the *nix environment, especially Ubuntu Linux and Mac OS X, to improve his SysAdmin-fu.


Career Highlights

  • 1990 - Started learning Unix. Let the geekness ensue.
  • 1996 - Founded Chip Castle Dot Com, Inc. , 1 year after completing graduate school.
  • 2004 - Founded Acquire Technologies, LLC, offering cradle-to-the-grave IT services for over a dozen land title insurance companies in the Florida panhandle region, administering a number of Mandriva and Ubuntu Linux servers during that time for mail, web and dns services.
  • 2006 - Sold Acquire Technologies, LLC to Stewart Title Guaranty Company .
  • 2007 - Started working with Ruby on Rails. Regrets not learning Ruby in 2000. Whaaaaah!!!
  • 2008 - Founded Invoice That to fulfill a dream of building web-based software tools that are useful and intuitive.
